Fourth Session of Youth Parliament of Pakistan 2008-09 Begins: May 06-10, 2009

Youth Parliament to discuss issues such as “Impact of National and International Media on Pakistani Society” , “ Terrorism and its impact on Cricket and Society,” “Local Government: Review and Reforms” and “Youth Policies”

Islamabad, May 05, 2009: The fourth session of the Youth Parliament Pakistan 2008-2009 is taking place in Islamabad from May 06-10, 2009.

The upcoming session of Youth Parliament Pakistan will discuss issues such as “Impact of National and International Media on Pakistani Society” , “ Terrorism and its impact on Cricket and Society,” “Local Government: Review and Reforms” and “Youth Policies” amongst discussing current Affairs.

Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Secretary Information; PML-N, has been invited to speak on the topic of Media: Impact of National and International Media on Pakistan, Mr. Imran Khan, Former Captain, Pakistan Cricket Team & Chairman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has been invited to speak on Terrorism and its impact on the Society and Cricket while Mr. Danyal Aziz, Advisor, Governance Institutes Network International (GINI) and former Chairman National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB), has been invited to speak on the topic of Local Government: Review and Reforms.

Geo TV Network is the media partner of Youth Parliament Pakistan 2008-09.

Mr. Wazir Ahmed Jogezai, Former Deputy Speaker National Assembly, will preside over the 5 day session. A Crisis Simulation Exercise will also be conducted during the session in which apart from other experts, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry; MNA (PML-N) will act as an observer.

Youth Parliament Pakistan is initiated and facilitated by PILDAT. Patterned after the National Assembly of Pakistan, the Youth Parliament Pakistan consists of 60 young men and women. The Youth Parliament follows its own two-Party System, an elected Leaders of the House or Youth Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, a Youth Cabinet, a Shadow Cabinet and Standing Committees. There are two mock parties: The Blue Party (Liberal) and The Green Party (Traditional). The Blue Party is advised by Dr. Donya Aziz, MNA and co-advised by Ms. Tehmina Dasti (former MNA)while Green Party is advised by Mr. Khurram Dastagir Khan, MNA and the co-party Advisor Ms. Anusha Rehman, MNA.
